Using a Natural & Organic Face Cream is safer for you

We all use many different skincare products daily which can contain more than 500 chemicals. Skin is the largest organ of our body and it absorbs up to 60% of whatever we put on it, including toxic products. So, when we put on our face products that are not organic face creams, we surely apply harmful artificial ingredients. Those chemicals represent extra work for our body to desintox. Indeed, the body stores some chemicals for months.

If you want to make sure that your natural face cream is safe to use, we recommend that you read the labels, looking for a list of ingredients to avoid. Here are the chemicals you should spot and why you should ban them.

Ingredients to avoid

Look for Synthetic fragrances, also called fragrance or parfum because they tend to be allergens.

Make sure that your natural face cream contains no parabens as they cause hormone disruption, DNA damages and even cancer. Parabens are a big family of complicated names all ending by paraben. For example: methylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, isobutylparaben. Avoid them all.

Alcohol is your enemy. Of course, there are some good ones that are even trendy such as vitamin A, vitamin E and retinol but some others dry out your kin. Double check that your skincare is free of SD alcohol 40, denatured alcohol, ethanol, and isopropyl alcohol.

Formaldehyde causes irritation and potentially cancer so ban it from your bathroom.

Sulfates act as detergents which is why you often find them in face washes. They are very strong chemicals that cause dehydration so avoid anything ending in sulfate. To help you choose safe face washes, why not check our range?

And some more…

Phthalates have been linked to cancer and fertility issues so if there are some chemicals you want to avoid, those are the ones. You should also run from: DBP, DEHP, DMP, DEP, dibutyl/diethyl ester, and 2-benzenedicarboxylate.

Synthetic colours such as FD&C or D&C carcinogen that irritate your skin, definitely a no go!

Beware of Triclosan and  triclocarban because they are endocrine disruptor and irritant.

Also ban Toluene because it affects your respiratory system, irritates the skin and can cause nausea.

Do not use polyethylene or PEGs. They are the small plastic beads you can find in your scrubs. Some doctors think they are carcinogen and irritate your skin.

We associate Oxybenzone with endometrioses so get rid of all your products listing (often sunscreens)

Petroleum/paraffin/mineral oil are a nightmare because they block your pores and do not allow you skin to breath.

Sorry I am sure that list freaked you out. But there is a reason why you should always go for Natural & Organic Face Cream. It is safer! Our range of natural face products is good for you. We make sure that the brand we work with only use safe ingrédients.

Organic Moisturisers are better for the planet

Have you ever thought that your non organic moisturisers are not only bad for you but also for the environment? Indeed, the ingredients contain in your skincare will eventually reach the soil and waterways. So, the toxic ingredients you use can impact microorganisms and aquatic life.

Indeed, most of the chemical components used in traditional creams do not break down so they accumulate in our ecosystems. They do the most harms when we rinse them because they do down our sinks and finally reach lakes, rivers and oceans. Thus “traditional skincare” destroys wildlife, flora and fauna.

But it goes further than oceans and water supplies. The water of our rivers and seas evaporates and is stocked in clouds. Once it rains, the chemicals finally return to the soil and we find them in crops and inside your home. How does it sound? Are you ready to go for organic face cream now?

Also, organic brands usually also take care of the environment by improving their packaging. Did you know that every year, the cosmetic industry produces 120 billion units of packaging and that we do not recycle most of it? Therefore, if you go for an organic moisturizer, you will have more chances to protect the environment.

Cruelty-free & Vegan moisturizer to protect the animals

First of all let’s make the difference between a cruelty free moisturiser and a vegan moisturizer. In short, cruelty-free refers to animal testing and vegan to ingredients. So, brands do not test cruelty-free skincare on animals and supposingly the ingredients neither. However, regulations might vary from one country to another.

Vegan skincare contains no animal products but strangely, they can be tested on animals or their ingredients can. I know it is strange, but it happens. I suggest that if you really care for the animals, you go for a Cruelty-free & Vegan moisturizer.

Good news if you are a resident of the European union, governments banned brands to test cosmetics on animals. However, a brand that do not sell the products tested on animals in Europe could sell them in China. Thus, those brands could still be hurting animals. Going for cruelty-free moisturisers that are labelled so is then key.

Did you know that every year, we catch around 3 million sharks to provide squalene for the cosmetics industry? And this is just one ingredient! Some others like Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen, Panthenol and Keratin all comes from animal. They are the most common and well-known but the list provided by PETA is actually huge. So how about you go for a vegan mositurizer to avoid useless pain?
